Establishing a Platform for Connecting Fiberon with Contractors and End-customers

Fiberon, Jan 2023 - Mar 2023

Problem Space: Design a mobile service that would create value for Fiberon, a decking material company, and address the current issue of it lacking direct connection with its end-customers.

Target Users: Contractors, end-customers of Fiberon.

Solution: An ecosystem of trust and connection between contractors and customers that allow customers to find contractors through Fiberon, have their projects built using Fiberon material, and rate their contractors after the project is done.

My Part: I conducted user research, ideated solutions that would create values validated by the target users (contractors), and prototyped the dashboard and the "finding new project and connecting to customers" sections of the mobile service for contractors and all of the mobile service for end customers.

Problem Framing

A challenge that we faced in the early stage of the process was figuring out how to create values for what stakeholders of Fiberon.

Since the end users of the Fiberon products are not in direct contact with Fiberon, we found it difficult to address their needs using a mobile service at first.

We found through research that the end-customers have the need of finding trustworthy contractors to do their projects, which suggests that contractors could be another potential user of the mobile-first service, especially that they are constantly on-the-go and would use a mobile service more than the other stakkeholders.

We saw the opportunity of connecting to not just the contractors, but also the end users of Fiberon through an ecosystem.

Solution

Our solution is an ecosystem of trust and connection between contractors and customers that allow customers to find contractors through Fiberon, have their projects built using Fiberon material, and rate their contractors after the project is done. A mobile-first application is also designed to help contractors find new projects, manage current project timeline, and order material from Fiberon to be delivered directly to site.

We conducted a value validation session with contractors at HomeDepot which confirmed that our design address the user need that it intended to.
